The Women Can Startup VC Directory

Venture capital firms investing in India

A working index of the funds that actually write cheques here. Each firm has its own page: what it backs, the stages and cheque sizes it plays at, the sectors it prefers, who it has already invested in, and the partners you would be pitching. Women-focused funds are tagged so you can filter straight to them.

About this directory

Built for founders deciding who to pitch, not just who to admire.

Raising money is mostly a research problem before it is a pitching problem. The wrong meeting is not a rejection, it is a fund that was never going to write your cheque: wrong stage, wrong sector, wrong cheque size. This directory is the homework, done for you. Filter to the funds that invest at your stage, in your space, at the size you need, and start there.

Each firm page lays out the same facts in the same order, so you can compare like with like. What they invest in and why. The rounds they lead. A cheque range where one is reported. A slice of their portfolio, linked to our founder stories wherever the founder is a woman we have written about. And the partners who sit on the other side of the table. We corroborate every field across independent sources, and when the record is thin we leave it blank rather than invent it.

Building a company and want to see who has backed founders like you? Cross-reference this with the women-led startup directory and our funding match tool.

Fund sizes and portfolios are indicative and move over time. Spotted a fund we should add or a detail to fix? Let us know.

Frequently asked questions

+ What is the Women Can Startup VC Directory?

It is a curated directory of active venture-capital firms investing in India. Each firm has its own page laying out what it backs — investment stages, typical cheque size, preferred sectors and geographies — along with notable portfolio companies and the partners who lead deals.

+ How do you decide which firms to include and what to publish?

We corroborate a firm’s focus, stages, cheque size, headquarters and notable investments across multiple independent sources — the fund’s own site, Crunchbase, Tracxn, Inc42, YourStory, Entrackr and the business press — before adding it. When a detail is thin or sources conflict, we leave it out rather than guess.

+ Which firms are marked “women-focused”?

Only funds with an explicit women-founder thesis or programme carry the women-focused tag. Most generalist funds back women founders too, but we reserve the tag for firms whose stated mandate centres on them, and you can filter the directory to just those.

+ How current is the fund and portfolio data?

Fund sizes reflect the most recent well-reported close, and portfolio lists highlight notable investments rather than every deal. Both move over time — always confirm the latest with the firm before you pitch.

+ I run a fund — how do we get listed?

If you invest in Indian startups, and especially if you back women founders, get in touch through our contact page and we’ll review the fund for inclusion.
